In their words

What keeps earning five stars
I have been utilizing onDiem for temping for over a year now. I absolutely love the flexibility it gives me to work when and where I want. onDiem is the cream of the crop by offering PTO, healthcare benefits, and now has a collaboration with ADHA! Communication with onDiem is easiest using their chat box on the website during working hours, but sometimes I email them too.

Temping just got EASY! :) — Working with onDiem has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my career! I have been working full time as a temp Dental Hygienist for about 3-4 months now and it has been the best. I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of dental offices while still enjoying the stability and support of a W-2 position — complete with PTO, medical benefits, and a truly caring team behind me. The agency handles everything seamlessly — from scheduling to payroll — allowing me to focus on providing the best patient care. You can feel that they genuinely value their employees and it shows in every interaction. Communication is always clear, professional, and kind. I’ve felt respected, appreciated, and supported every step of the way, and I couldn’t ask for a better experience. If you’re in the dental field, looking for flexibility without sacrificing benefits or security, I can’t recommend this agency enough! :)

I really like this company. I've been temping with OnDiem for years, and I've been treated well. I do have a suggestion for the app, however. It would be more user friendly when I am scrolling through the list of potential jobs, and I have to check my schedule, it didn't reset to the top of the list every time. Also, I don't get notifications when a message is left for me from an office. I showed up late to a job because last minute an office messaged me to come earlier and I didn't get it. 😑

Dissent

The other side

The recurring complaints worth keeping an eye on — the dissent behind the ratings.

I've "applied" to about 10 or more shifts that were posted, and I have YET to get ONE shift. I'm not sure if offices only accept temps that they have a history with, but this is not a reliable source to generate income. 9/10 you will not be accepted to get a shift. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem.

This company has emailed offers to our office staff trying to recruit our staff to work for onDiem. Very concerning!

Friendly and timely customer service. Easy use of the app (could be expanded to more areas.) But payment shown is WAY overinflated compared to the amount they actually pay you. Please read! This concerns your payment while using Ondiem. I got paid nearly 300 dollars LESS than what was advertised. When using the app and looking for jobs, they show you an amount that is tentative, this amount is MUCH higher than the actual amount you will get paid and the math does not add up to how they got this overinflated number. Once you actually work your hours, the new amount shown that you get paid is much less. And then taxes come out of that lesser amount, rather than the higher amount (when asked I was told that the higher amount is where the taxes would come from, this was not true). If you want to know the actual amount you’ll get paid, multiply the hourly rate by how many hours you’d likely work (for 2 days, hourly rate x 16, for example). THAT is your actual amount, then expect to have hundreds taken out for taxes. That first number they show you when searching for jobs is meaningless and just there to get you to click. You will get paid nothing near that number. While the customer service is very good and the app is convenient, I don’t like being advertised an amount that I’m not getting paid. So beware of this if you decide to use Ondiem.

Not User friendly as other apps out there. — This app seems archaic and glitchy. It's like a cheap version of an app. With all the tech out there and options it should have better set up. Also, RATES for hygiene are very low and have heard that the company tacks on like $15 and hour for shifts which makes sense why the pay is so low for providers. I use 2 other apps in the portland metro area and can set my own rate and distance to travel. I don't like that you can't communicate with offices before hand or at all. also not much info on offices that post jobs and hard to know what to expect when you book. Overall this is just a slow and basic temping app. Much better options out there. Maybe someone will read these reviews and hirer a real app designer to bring it into this century of tech.

Not good — This app isn’t good for dental assistants looking for work. There’s never any shifts available it’s kind of pointless to keep this app on my phone.

It’s not working, never loads, blank screen — Needs an update

Trash — Save your time this company is not good. I’ve been treated like shot and Shelbi is a useless human being. There are lots of other companies on here that are not trash.

Dental hygienists present a mixed but considerably skeptical assessment of onDiem. While some users praise the company's benefits package, flexibility, and customer service responsiveness, substantive complaints dominate the feedback: the app suffers from persistent technical glitches and crashes, job availability is severely limited in many areas, pay representations are misleading with advertised amounts significantly exceeding actual compensation after deductions, and shifts are difficult to secure despite numerous applications. Users consistently report better alternatives exist for setting rates and communicating with offices, and several describe feeling disrespected or unsupported by the organization, undermining claims of genuine employee valuation.
