GoTu has been a really good app to use when it comes to finding dental jobs. I have worked with the app for 3 years and do not have one complaint. All the representatives have been really nice and helpful when it comes to any specifics. I would highly encourage people in the dental field to give them a try if they haven’t already, you will not be disappointed!

The recurring complaints worth keeping an eye on — the dissent behind the ratings.
For permanent placement; it feels like nothing short of a scam. They demand a ridiculous upfront fee, then tell you it takes weeks before they even start considering candidates for you. When they can’t deliver, they’ll simply blame your job offering instead. Pay a fortune upfront and hope for results later—that’s unacceptable. Huge red flag
Unfortunately with more hygienists choosing to work through temp agencies, we rely on these agencies in finding candidates to help fill shifts. Yesterday we had an incident where a hygienist was not able to fulfill her clinical duties as she listed on her profile. This included basic responsibilities like taking xrays and writing clinical notes. I reached out to Gotu letting them know what had happened. I am appalled by the response I received. "While we understand how frustrating that situation is, please note that GoTu is unable to monitor or take responsibility for the specific clinical duties performed by professionals while on-site at your practice. Because this shift took place yesterday and has already been marked as complete, there is limited action we can take regarding yesterday's tasks or production" It is unfortunate that there is an attitude of oh the shift is completed, nothing we can do. I also feel like if a temp agency is going to work with hygienists, there should be some vetting involved. As a doctor who is unable to vet ahead of time for a shift, I am unsure how to hire knowing a hygienist is capable of what they are saying they can do. Temp agencies are getting far to comfortable taking advantage of offices. I am happy to hire through these agencies and even pay the high fees when needed, but quality assurance is something to be worked on.
1099 illegal in New Jersey — While I love the convenience of this app they mostly only offer independent contractor work. I live in New Jersey where this is illegal. I have contacted the app multiple times about this and they state I’m wrong. I know that I am right and wish they would change it and then I’d actually use the app more. Right now I will only work for offices that list as employee work. Teero is better for this because they follow the laws for hygienist
Picky Offices — I don’t like the fact that you have to apply and get accepted or denied. Clipboard, HnR, and Toothio just give you the shift. Some offices on GoTu are way too picky. I honestly just stopped applying to jobs on this app
Does Not Support The Providers — This platform does not support its providers, they’re most in favor of the offices. If you send a message within seconds to an office, and the office never responds, they’ll allow an office to penalize you, and drop your rating, because their lack of reading messages. 34th Street Dental, in Berwyn, IL in particular. If you’re a provider there should not be a biased opinion from the platform itself, especially when there’s documented proof, you did all you could to inform an office prior to your start time and they fail to read their messages. I’m still in good standing but the principle of the matter is this platform does not support its providers as they feel they need to the offices, but there would not be a platform if it was not for the providers.
They can scam you — I put in my hours to an office and the office adjusted it by 30mins and then said that I accepted it when I did not. Now they refuse to give me my money so how can I trust any office that I go to not do that every time and they can’t fix it. Plus half the offices I’ve temped at are pretty questionable as offices to begin with. They lost me as a hygienist
Does not support hygienists — I have scheduled multiple shifts for the hours posted only to get to the office and they did not schedule patients for the hours posted but half. GoTu chooses the dentists side and will not compensate me for the hours I agreed to work. I have wasted days and hours driving to these offices to wind up working way less hours due to the lack of transparency by these offices.
Don’t use!!!! — If you don’t keep up with accepting temp jobs they will permanently block your account.
